The Ram 1500 has become one of the most popular half ton trucks on the market today, and thanks to its back-to-back Motor Trend Truck of the Year Awards in 2013 and 2014, sales continue to soar. We got our hands on a 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie equipped with 9012 projector headlights and 9006 fog lights. While development isn’t quite finished on our 9012 bulbs, we decided to throw in a set of our new 9006 (HB4) Ion Yellow 2800k LED Fog Bulbs (P/N 17501) for the rainy and snow seasons here in Portland.
These new PIAA LED fog bulbs are a direct replacement for the stock halogen bulbs and include a waterproof plug and play adapter and controller that not only drives the LED circuitry but controls the cooling fan to ensure long life. Replacing the fog bulbs on the Ram is as simple as crawling underneath the front of the truck and literally removing the stock bulbs. The LED bulbs install directly in the fog housing socket just like the stock bulb. The kit comes with zip ties to secure the LED controller and adaptor harness. The best place to secure the unit is on the bracket just to the inside of each bulb socket.

We chose the amber LED Bulbs over the bright white 6000k LED Bulbs because the 2800k color is a crisp Yellow color that is much less reflective than white, and will reduce the amount of glare in fog and snow and improves visibility in inclement weather. Anyone who has spent any significant time here in the Northwest will know that foul weather visibility is a must. Combining these LED Fog Bulbs with a set of PIAA Silicone Wipers will increase safety and guarantee greater visibility heading into the poor weather seasons of Fall and Winter.
