The Contest
We are excited to be involved with a custom motorcycle build
contest held by BMW Motorrad for the new R nineT. Following submissions from a
host of custom garages, three concepts were chosen to be voted on by the
public. In the end, French garage Old School Engineering was declared the
winner and received a stock R nineT to make their own. The team will have until
October to bring their concept to life at which point it will be unveiled in
Paris.
The bike is delivered to the team by CEO of BMW Motorrad France, Frederic Stik
The Concept
Old School Engineering took a unique approach with their
design, daring to turn the R nineT into a vintage looking scrambler sidecar. A
beautiful shade of green with silver, black, and brown accents really makes
this bike stand out against the two concepts it beat out. When it came to lighting
that would work seamlessly with this style, the team chose PIAA
LP530 and LP560 LED
lights to fit the off-road scrambler look.
The Team
Old School Engineering, based in France, started out as a
group of friends with a love for motorcycles and art. In 2009, they decided to
turn their passion into a shop dedicated to building one of a kind motorcycles
built in the image of their rebellious spirit. Their projects have included a GSXR 750 Café Racer,
a Honda 750 Four, and a BMW R100 just to name a few.
